Steps for
Reunion Committees
Successful
reunions depend on getting the word out to as many classmates as
possible. Put the time into researching and updating your
class list. It will be worth it!
1.
Contact the Alumni Association for a copy
of your most recent class list on file. Available in Microsoft
Excel, hardcopy form, or mailing labels.
2. Check the list supplied by the Alumni
Association against your Yearbook. Add names of anyone missing.
3. Divide
the list among committee members to find missing addresses.
Research by calling matching names in the telephone book,
parents or other classmates. Some internet tools:
www.switchboard.com
www.whitepages.com
4. Send changes to Alumni Association for
list updating. (We can generate address labels for your mailings, if needed.)
5. Add any teachers you’d like to invite to
your reunion. c/o Deering High School, 370 Stevens Ave., Portland,
ME 04103.
6. Notify the Alumni Association as soon as
you have a reunion date and details. The Association maintains a
web site and is recognized by the school as the official contact for
reunion
inquiries.
7. The
Portland Press Herald publishes reunion news for free. You can
send dates, times, locations and names of missing to
communitynews@pressherald.com or
call 207-791-6307.
The Deering High School Alumni
Association is here to help. Our board members have years of
experience in putting reunions together. Call or email us any time
for expert reunion advice. Good luck! Reunions are fun
and always worth the effort.
